Five things to be thankful for

9:26 AM

Most of us when we go shopping we bring a list of what to buy. We do this so that we do not miss the things we need. A number of good reasons can be made also when we enumerate things that are important to us. One of these reasons is that, we do not want to forget these things because they are very dear to us.

So also with Thanksgiving Day, we make a list on things we are thankful for. These things are important and are relevant in our lives. But things could vary from person to person. For, me I only have five things to thank for. I consider them gifts because they are so precious to me. I will try to put a little explanation each item on the list.

1. Life- Life is so precious and I consider this as a gift. No one can give life freely except the one Who Is the fullness of life itself.

2. Freedom- I always enjoy human freedom. This may not be perfect at all times but this enables me to do what I need to do. Part of human freedom is responsibility. I am well aware that human freedom entails human responsibility. I have my own responsibilities in life because I have freedom that gives beauty to my life.

3. Love- I am very thankful for the gift of love. This is one of the greatest mysteries in human life because who could love other than human beings? I know how to love because I am being loved first by my parents and they are next on the list.

4. My Parents- My parents are the most important people in my life. Without them, I would not have seen the beauty of this world. It is interesting to note the fact that I am the fruit of something beyond human concept of love. Love begets another love and that I love my parents and I hold them very close to my heart.

5. Friends- I wonder what Friends are meant for sometimes. It seems like friends are those people who care for me and those who are there when I need help. Friends are not only these kinds of people. They are also enemies who have helped me see the reality of this world. Not always good things but through bad things as well which keep me stronger and better every single day. Friends are all people around me whether seen or unseen. I consider those people I met online as my friends also. They are not nice to me sometimes but they are always part of my growth.

These five things are my personal list of what to thank for always. However, these five things can be reduced to only One. Let me explain why.

Who could give life other than the One who has the fullness of it? Can somebody create life? Human beings can generate life but cannot create it.

Who could give freedom another than the one who has the source of all freedom? Nature is given to all that exist and each species has its own freedom. We act according to our nature and freedom rests on it. But who could create and give freedom other than the One? Human love also was not created by a creature for creatures cannot create. Human love is there from the creation of mankind. Human beings cannot create love even though they are the highest creature. Only we, human beings are capable of loving. Who can author this love other than Love itself? So also with parents, friends and all things around us are created and given to us generously by the One. These things surely are precious gifts from the One. Who is this One?

Did you realize these things yet? Please ask yourself sometimes!

What could be the meaning of life?

7:04 PM
I have been wrestling with this question since time immemorial and each time I was being asked with this question, I always consigned to silence. I was afraid to say something since I was not really sure what the answer. I have been looking for answers and I have been through a lot of struggles just to find meaning in my existence but I was shunned by the overwhelming discovery I have made lately. I was not sure if that could be the meaning of life or not.

See the video below.

This may be true in the life of individuals but I bet there is something deeper than this. Love and responsibility in our ordinary life can be the starting point of our understanding of what life really means.

Nothingness has no place in the world filled with things than can manipulate and alienate us. If we are nothing we would not care about these things. But because we are worth something, and there is in us that make us higher that any other creature, there must be something higher meaning of us than anything else.

What could that meaning be? Can I find it in books and in my experience? Not really! They may help us realize the meaning of our existence but we cannot be sure subjectively that they are the meaning of life. We cannot be sure of anything because we are influenced by relativistic idea in every circumstance in life.
In school, at work or anywhere else, who can be certain? If these are not real, there must be something that is real.

Meaning of life is not to be found. It is being revealed and given to us. Life’s meaning is revealed to us by Someone higher than us, Someone who knows more than we know Him. This is very important to consider because we are finite and imperfect creature. We falter and we get sick and tired of things around. But one thing is for sure and I guess that somewhere in time and along the course of our life, the meaning of our existence will be revealed. Not to its fullness of course otherwise, there would no longer challenge in life.

Whether today, tomorrow or the day after tomorrow we can somehow know the importance of seeking that meaning. Probably when we are in the realm of pure consciousness that we can grasp what it means to be in this wonderful world world. Sure enough the video is right. Life is a journey and it is like a music that we need to sing. Perhaps consider asking yourself, what could be the meaning of my life?

What is Beauty?

8:52 AM
Every person has many questions in life. These questions are always personal and vital in each one’s personality.

When I was younger, I had one question that made me think a lot. Only lately the answer dawned on me and made me understand a little bit and I would like to share it with you.

The question was this; what is beauty? If I were to ask you, what is beauty; your respond may vary from one answer to another. The reason for this sums up in the saying from an unknown author that say: “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. We all know this saying but let us take a closer look at beauty if it fits into what we understand of it.

In today’s world, a lot of people use advance technologies no matter what to get a look they want. Plastic surgery and the like have become trends in changing our look. Can you think of some examples? Well, while we have the freedom to do so, it remains a mystery why some people would love these things. Why would people want to undergo plastic surgery? Perhaps they feel that they don’t look beautiful. But the question remains, how do they know they that don’t look beautiful?

Maybe the best question to ask is this: what is the criterion of beauty? One thing that we have to know that in order to know what is beautiful is to experience it. With this, I’ll give you two types of beauty: 1. The Physical beauty, 2. The Metaphysical beauty. If we look around us, we see the beauty of creation. We see trees, grasses, animals, landscapes, the beautiful Grand Canyon, and the breathtaking beauty of the Niagara Falls, the people and so on and so forth. We look at these things and we can enumerate and name them. Likewise, we look at other people and say, you are beautiful whether one has undergone surgery or not. These are physical beauties and our experience this beauty is a mere informative one which does not change us or affects us personally. The metaphysical beauty on the other hand is the experience of beauty that not only informs us but transforms us.

In our personal life, we also experience things that are instrumental for change. When a person is honest and true to us, we learn from that person and we want to do the same to others. When we experience justice, we realize that it is good and we want also render justice to others. When we experience a person with pure and sincere heart, we admire that person and we desire to be one also. When we experience being loved, we learn to love others as well. When we know somebody who is gracious, we want to be gracious also. We have that desire in our hearts to respond to these things that enables us to change because that’s our natural law. Our experience should be metaphysical so that beauty can transform us.

This is the beauty that is very important and we tend to set it aside because of today’s noise and distractions around us. The multi-media culture and the like keep us busy and tend to forget that we need to pay attention to the beauty we are experiencing in our ordinary lives. We listen to all kinds of music. IPods, Mp3s, television and other multi media things restrict us from going into our deep self.

There is an immediate need for everybody here and that is to “stop, look and listen” to one’s self and vital needs. We need to experience beauty over and over again so that its transformative power can lift us up higher than where we normally are. At the last hour, we will be looking back to our past and say, it was beautiful.

What is truth?

8:32 AM

Majority of us struggle with the question on truth. Almost everyday we say about things to be true or not true but nothing is more truthful that the question itself. What is truth anyway? Or if there is anything as true, how can I know it?

This question has been bothering me for a long time. My friend told me once that we can say a thing is true if we can see and touch it. Well, there are a lot of things around me that I can see and touch. I can see my computer and touch it so it is true. If I want to listen to music, I can get my radio, Ipod or Mp3, plug it in and play the music I like. These are true because I can see and touch them and it holds true to every thing.

What about those things that I can neither see nor touch, are they true? The air for example, is it real? I can neither see nor touch it but I know it is there. The sun rays also which I can only see when the sun is up but I con not touch it. It is also true because it is there.

When I was young, my mother would hug and kiss me and I knew she loves me. When my father taps my back and say “son, I am proud of you” I knew that he cares for me. When I grew up the right age with feelings on the opposite sex, I know my feelings were real. Even though sometimes I was not sure about those feelings but they are there. I could not see nor touch these feelings but they are real because I experience them and they are true. Thus, feelings such us

Things are true if they mean to us. If they mean nothing, we consider them as unreal. Whereas this idea is just a mere affirmation of the objective world, and a reflection of one’s subjectivity, we can not really sure if things that manifest to us are real or true.

One night I dreamt about sitting in front of the computer and writing on the question “what is truth”. Days have passed and suddenly I found myself setting in front of my computer fooling around with this same question. How can I distinguish this event from my dream? Which one is real and which one is not?

We can say for instance that things are true and real if we experience them. What about if I live in the USA and I do not know about the Philippines, would I consider Philippines as real and true? The same thing as Europe, I never been there but how can I make sure that Europe exists?

All that exists or all beings are true and real. What really makes them real and true? When I look in front of a mirror, I see a brown Asian young man. When I look at my friends at school most of them are white, black and Hispanics. They do not look the same as I look. How do I know if they are the same or different from me? Are they real? Or am I real to them?

Things we can say as whether true or not is more or less through out experience. But our experience is very limited and measured. If we rely on experience, there are things that we don’t experience which are likewise true. If there is oneness in creation, that oneness we can consider it as the truth of everything that is. If there is no oneness, there are so many varieties of truths and we fall into relativism. What is that thing that makes all one? Could it be the source of everything we see and everything we know? Could it be the one that created everything? What is an absolute truth? Is there any absolute truth? Maybe there is only my truth and your truth and a relative truths we uphold everyday. What do you think?

Anti-Virus: a virus Itself

3:55 PM
Today I was very upset when I opened my other computer. I thought the computer system was joking on giving warnings about Spywares, computer worms and other suspicious files but apparently were true. As soon as I opened the internet explorer, the security toolbar 7.1 appeared. The name was very catchy and I thought it was part of the internet explorer tools to run my computer safely. Opening my homepage, it directed me to other page such as windows anti-virus 2008, a Spyware online removal.

The most upsetting web page was the Dr. Anti Spy. It kept showing the warning message that my computer was seriously infected with virus and it needed to be scanned and cleaned up. The other one is Securefires website which offers an online scan and stuff. I was really pissed off and I did not know what to do. My other computer is very old Windows XP SP 1 and I had to update the system into XP SP2 in order to install Norton Anti-Virus 2009.

Before I was able to install Norton 2009, I benefited from Google-pack Spyware Doctor which removed some spywares from my computer. The next thing I did was to run windows update to install XP SP2 so that I can install Norton AntiVirus 2009. I was able to install it and now my other computer runs well. I rarely use that other computer with an expired anti-virus protection. Maybe that is why it got infected.

I am not good at computers and other gadgets but I just wanted to remind you to take care of your computer. There are a lot of intruders out there who wants to steal information from you and much less to say, your identity. To avoid this, keep your trusted antivirus going and update it always because you'll never know when this cyber-enemies come to attack your computer.

Invisible Touch Lyrics

7:29 AM
Invisible Touch - Genesis

Invisible Touch Lyrics

This song is very popular in the internet because of its provocative lyrics. I simply like the beat of this great song. It is a real classic rock.

What I like in the lyrics are the lines that say,

"Well Ive been waiting, waiting here so long
But thinking nothing, nothing could go wrong, ooh now I know
She has a built in ability
To take everything she sees
And now it seems Im falling, falling for her."

and...

"She seems to have an invisible touch yeah
She reaches in, and grabs right hold of your heart
She seems to have an invisible touch yeah
It takes control and slowly tears you apart."

The next verse says that the guy does not know the girl... This seems odd but its true because we sometimes feel things are difficult to describe. We stumble upon things that are new to us and seem like we knew them and they somehow moved our being.

Invisible touch? Well, for young people and for old as well, this song is fitting when we want to fall in love again and again. But is this really about love? What if this is about positive and negative energies in the word that drive us crazy and touch us invisibly sometimes...or reality that is beyond our control...

Well I'll leave it all to you folks!
